British PM: UK determined to keep Iran deal

“I explicitly announced at the United Nations that the JCPOA is a very important agreement, and we are determined to continue it,' May said in her meeting with President Rouhani, took place on the sidelines of the 72nd session of UN General Assembly in New York, referring to the nuclear agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The British Prime Minister urged all the parties to remain fully committed to the landmark international agreement.
President Rouhani said, in the meantime, that the JCPOA is the outcome of considerable efforts by seven countries and all parties should try to preserve the deal by fully fulfilling their commitments.
The Iranian President also called for facilitating banking relations between Iran and the United Kingdom, saying Iran was ready to further its cooperation with London on regional issues.
Elaborating on the situation in Iraq, Rouhani said, 'The first important issue in Iraq was to push the terrorists out of the country and the plan to accomplish this is being done appropriately.'
According to Rouhani, other issues in Iraq are fostering close cooperation between the Shia and Sunni Muslims and Kurdish people and preventing any changes in the geographical borders in the region.
He said that the planned referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan region constitutes a very dangerous attempt.
'Seeking independence is going to mean the start of a new war in the region,' he said.
Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria are against such an issue and they hope Britain play a constructive role in addressing the issue, he added.
We want a better life for the Kurdish people but to achieve such a goal we should act based on unity and Iraq's Constitution and territorial integrity, he said.
