Official Opening of Mining Indaba 2026 in Cape Town
The Mining Indaba 2026 International Mining Investment Conference and Exhibition officially opened this morning 9 February 2026 (20 Bahman 1404) in the city of Cape Town.
At the opening ceremony of this major mining event, the Mayor of Cape Town highlighted the city’s strategic position in Africa’s mining industry, describing Cape Town as the “capital of mining deals”, and emphasized its key role in facilitating investment, financing, and the conclusion of major international mining agreements.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, with the President of Zambia and the South African Minister of Mineral Resources delivering speeches as special guests. In their remarks, they stressed the importance of regional cooperation, sustainable development in the mining sector, attracting foreign investment, and Africa’s role in supplying critical minerals to the global economy.
